On Saturday, I finally felt healthy and to make sure, I went out for my first real training for the 2016 season, 45minutes of intervals. Sure, not the way to really start, but after being out so long, I wanted to sprint, to feel alive… But, after only 4min in the red zone, I felt more dead then ever and so it was back to reality. Yes, my shape is bad, yes, I will have to start with the beginning, yes yes yes… And so, I was going to race on Sunday to make sure I wouldn’t forget all these thoughts :)
Sunday, Kecskemet. Warming up was a nice scenic tour through the citycenter and then 2 loops on the track just before the start at 13.00. The start was hectic as after only 10sec in the first turn, the guys in front went down, forcing me almost to stop and to go around. So, as usual a great start in 12-15th position. But, luckily for me, nobody felt crazy enough to attack from the first meters and by the end of the loop I was the lunatic in the lead. Somehow, I already had forgotten my yesterdays wise thoughts and I wanted to suffer(again). And so I did but this way the race was open fast. After only 2 loops, we were gone with 3: Marci Dina, pelican and me and that was good enough. I tried to make a good pace, but after only a couple of loops, I was maxing out and so I told the others to go for it. I tried as good as I could to keep up, but my ‘tv-show’ had started. A nice fight between the 2 leaders just 10sec ahead of me, nice to watch! No way to get closer, but I was also happy to see that they weren’t really jumping away. So, it was good, I felt good and thanks to their show, time really went fast and the fun hour was over too soon… 3rd place general in my winter”shape”, I am not complaining.
Now its time to start with the beginning. My injuries feel better, my health is good, so, basic endurance here we go… Lets pray for some good weather :)
